To avoid last-minute booking with a lack of entrance tickets or spaces, we highly recommend to book with 1 – 2 months in advance for Machupicchu tours/treks. However, for daily traditional tours like City Tour, Sacred Valley, Rainbow Mountain, and some others, you can book 48 hours in advance maximum.

Weather

Yes, it only has 2 though. The wet season from November to March and the dry season from April through to October.
The dry season especially June, July and August are best for undertaking treks. However, the festive period in Cusco is magical with many Markets and events.

To carry out the different tourist activities in the City of Cusco, it is advisable to wear comfortable or preferably trekking shoes, sunscreen, personal hygiene implements, sunglasses, a warm jacket, a camera, and a backpack to carry your important belongings on the tour, insect repellent.

General

A large part of the European and American nationalities do not need a visa or any paperwork to travel to Peru as a tourist. It should be considered that the travel document such as the passport must have a minimum validity of 6 months. The maximum time allowed for the stay as a tourist is 183 days, non-extendable and cumulative for 365 days. The VISA time is granted by the immigration agent upon entering the country. People who come from South American countries such as Ecuador, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay and Paraguay will be able to enter with their national identity document (DNI).

Cusco is a safe city for its size and tourist hot spot status. We just recommend you use common sense when looking after your things or handling money but unlike other South American cities Cusco is safe to wander around, even at night.
The airport is located SouthEast of the City. It is only 15minitues by taxi to the city center.
In Peru, the only places where it is customary to tip 10% is in restaurants. However, if you receive good service during your trip in any other business, we invite you to recognize this and motivate people to continue providing good service with a tip.
  • Stores:
    Open from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    On Sundays they are closed. In some cases, there may be variations in hours at noon and on Saturday afternoons. Shopping centers usually open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m., including Sundays.
  • Banks:
    From Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Restaurants:
    Generally from 12:00 to 15:00 and from 20:00 to 23:00 or 24:00. Check the closing time according to the restaurant.
